Why Challenging Walks?
Our faster members want to get the most fitness benefit they can from every walk and while they could go off and walk alone, they know they'll achieve more with others spurring them on.
Not Interested in Running
If you're not a fan of running but like exercising outdoors then our Challenge group could be perfect.
Our Challenge members walk fast and hunt down hills but they love a laugh and support one another.
Progress to Running
You may want to maximise your walking fitness while recovering from a running injury.
How Challenging Exactly?
Our Saturday countryside walks are the biggest thanks to most people having more time than mid-week. These tend to be 16-22k long and include multiple climbs.
Speed on the flat tends to be 5.5-6.5kph but slows considerably on hills and heavy terrain.
Tuesday and Thursday walks are typically around the outskirts of Cheltenham. These tend to average 5.5-6.5kph depending more on gates and stiles with distances varying around 6-8km.
Join the CRWC Family
Cheltenham Running and Walking Club is not a traditional Athletics Club.
Many of our members prefer to exercise with the friends than alone so joining a club makes perfect sense.
The first taster sessions we put on for walkers will be week of the 27th September.
You're invited to try four walks with our members as a kind of free trial before joining a membership.
